McNeil’s Knee, The Nido Game feat. Doc Gooden (New York Post)

Amazin' But True Episode 18 Mets podcast

The Mets picked up back-to-back wins against the Nationals to work out a split of the four-game set at Citi Field this week. Unfortunately, they lost Jeff McNeil in the process. On the latest episode of the “Amazin’ But True” podcast with Nelson Figueroa and I, we talk about everything going on in Mets land.

Figgie and I open up the show talking about Jeff McNeil’s knee injury and when we could expect him back. We then react to the “Tomas Nido Game,” after he belted two home runs, including a grand slam, driving in six, leading the Mets to an 8-2 victory Thursday. Did anyone on the planet ever see that coming from the Mets’ light-hitting backup catcher? We also get into some decisions ahead for Luis Rojas with the lineup. How will he get Robinson Cano in along with J.D. Davis, Amed Rosario, Andres Gimenez and Dom Smith? We also talk about what has changed with Pete Alonso as his bat is hot now and he approaches batting his weight at .240. We look ahead to the weekend series against the Phillies and then give our thoughts on Marcus Stroman’s surprising decision to opt out of the season.
