Any time you have to face a guy throwing in triple digits, things are going to get a little bit uncomfortable. That’s exactly where the Padres found themselves last night facing the Dodgers’ Brusdar Graterol.
Graterol is averaging close to 99 mph on his heater in 2020, touching triple digits often. He came on to face the Padres with a runner on in the 8th inning. Graterol got Fernando Tatis Jr to ground into a double play, and Trent Grisham doubled to set up an at-bat for Manny Machado. That’s where the Dodgers’ reliever made headlines.
Graterol went right after Manny Machado throwing back-to-back heaters at 99 and 100 mph. The third pitch he threw had Dodgers fans going crazy on social media. The popular Pitching Ninja on Twitter did an overlay of the three pitches to demonstrate just how ridiculous the pitch sequence was.
