Dodgers: Justin Turner Reaches a Career Milestone with His 1000th Hit (Dodgers Nation)



The Dodgers should have spent Tuesday night celebrating Justin Turner rather than thinking over a loss. But instead, the Padres came up big and spoiled the little bit of joy we all had for a moment. 

When Justin Turner hit a ball off of the left-field wall last night, he earned the 1000th hit of his storied career. It was also his 781st hit with the Dodgers after spending years floundering with the Orioles and Mets. 

It’s been a long and winding road for Justin Turner to get to that 1000th hit. He was selected in the 2006 draft by the Reds and was later traded to the Orioles in 2008. JT wouldn’t get real time at the big league level until he was claimed off of waivers by the Mets in 2010.  

But Turner’s career didn’t really take off until the Dodgers took a minor league flier on him in 2014. It was here in Los Angeles that Turner evolved into an All-Star caliber third baseman capable of winning over a few MVP votes.
