Pregnant wife Amy keeping Gerrit Cole on Yankees schedule (New York Post)



There is no telling when Opening Day will take place, but Gerrit Cole is staying prepared.

The Yankees’ $324 million ace, who almost certainly will be on the mound in Baltimore when baseball returns from its coronavirus-induced hiatus, recently played catch with pregnant wife Amy, according to video from the former UCLA softball pitcher’s Instagram account.

The couple is expecting their first child, a boy, in June. For now, they’re stuck at home like many around the world trying to avoid the pandemic.

Cole was among several Yankees who last week left the team’s spring training headquarters in Tampa, Fla., as the virus made its way to two Yankees minor leaguers and thousands others all over.

The 29-year-old righty is from Southern California, but it is unclear where he is waiting out the pandemic to make his debut for the team he grew up rooting for and that gave him a pitching record nine-year contract over the winter.

Last week, the 31-year-old Amy, who starred along with Cole at UCLA, shared a picture of the lovebirds fishing.
