Luis Rojas has already secured the most important endorsements of all.
Upon the news of the 38-year-old becoming the next Mets manager, multiple players took to Twitter to share their enthusiasm for the hiring of Rojas, who has spent 14 years with the organization and became the Mets’ first-ever quality control coach last season.
“Loved having Luis in ‘17 and ‘18 as my AA manager!” NL Rookie of the Year Pete Alonso tweeted. “It’s awesome playing under him and having him on staff last year as well!!! Super pumped to have him as the Jeffe. Also he throws some damn good bp #LFGM”
Midseason acquisition Marcus Stroman felt his impact in a matter of months.
“LUIS ROJAS! Love love love it,” the right-hander wrote. “Loved being around him on the bench last year. Always teaching and full of knowledge. Super laid back and brings nothing but great vibes each and every day. Beyond even keel. Excited even more for the year! @Mets”
Rojas replaced Carlos Beltran after he and the Mets parted ways for his role in the Astros’ sign-stealing operation.
