Yankees’ Aroldis Chapman trolls Astros’ cheating drama (New York Post)

Let the trolling begin.

Aroldis Chapman became the first current Yankee to poke fun at the Astros’ cheating scandal on Friday.

The closer posted a popular GIF on Twitter of Michael Jackson eating popcorn while seated in a movie theater from the “Thriller” music video. It was accompanied by a headline that read: “Me watching all the Astros cheating drama go down.”

The scandal, in which the Astros used a video system that included players banging a garbage can to relay pitches to hitters in 2017, led to the firing of manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow. Hinch was also suspended for a full year. The Astros beat the Yankees in seven games in the ALCS that year.

Additionally, the Red Sox parted ways with manager Alex Cora, who was a bench coach on that Houston team. And the Mets parted ways with manager Carlos Beltran, a designated hitter with the Astros who was named in the report released by MLB. The Astros were also fined $5 million and forfeited first- and second-round picks in 2020 and 2021.
