On Wednesday the Dodgers designated right-handed reliever Casey Sadler for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for free agent signing Alex Wood. At the same time the club officially announced the Wood signing.
#Dodgers make signing of LHP Alex Wood official. Delay involved clearing a spot on 40-man roster. RHP Casey Sadler is the odd man out. DFAed.

Sadler appeared in 24 games with the Dodgers in 2019, recording a 2.33 ERA in 27 innings. The right-hander came to LA via trade the Tampa Bay Rays on July 3. While there is a chance he remains with the club, he still took the opportunity to thank Dodger fans for his time in Los Angeles.
Wood is making a return engagement to LA after a one-year absence. The 2017 all-star made on 7 starts for the Cincinnati Reds in 2019 while dealing with back issues.
Jon Heyman broke down Wood’s incentive-laden contract in a convoluted way on Twitter.
