Yankees’ wish list goes past Gerrit Cole, Stephen Strasburg (New York Post)

Brian Cashman will head to the winter meetings in San Diego on Monday morning with plenty on his to-do list.

At the top is acquiring a “premier” starting pitcher, with Gerrit Cole likely the top target, but the Yankees general manager is also keeping his eye on the rest of the roster.

And the attention on talking to the likes of Cole and Stephen Strasburg hasn’t stopped him from trying to find a center fielder.

“I’m having conversations simultaneously,” Cashman said Sunday night at The Heights and Lights holiday event in Stamford, Conn.

“Everyone is focused on Gerrit Cole and Strasburg,” the GM said. “I understand that. But we’re having dialogues separate to that.”

Cashman said Brett Gardner and Cameron Maybin remain options to play center in The Bronx next season and that a potential serious financial commitment to a Cole or Strasburg wouldn’t stop him from coming to terms with an outfielder first, especially with Aaron Hicks out for at least a significant chunk of next season following offseason Tommy John surgery.
